Internet and Electronic Devices

Lansdowne Public School staff and parents believe in a learning environment that allows all students to achieve their full potential. This environment needs to be safe and free of distractions that negatively impact student learning or lessen instructional time. It is our belief that the use of these devices during the instructional day severely limits the listener’s ability to concentrate on the learning in the classroom and is a negative distraction to the other learners.

As a result, we will continue to implement our electronics procedure for all of our students. All students who bring an electronic device to school, will turn it in to their homeroom teacher before school begins every morning. Each class will have a storage container, labeled with their homeroom, and the devices will be locked for the day, and returned to the students at the end of each school day. This will ensure that all students are free of distractions that could have a negative impact on their learning and the learning of others.

In the event that a student chooses not to follow this rule, than consequences for their actions will apply and progressive discipline measures will be used.

We would like to thank parents and guardians for their support, as we know that everyone is most interested in providing an environment for their child that allows them to focus on their learning. We would also like to remind you that the school is not responsible for electronics that are lost or damaged at school. Please take the time to discuss this letter with your child and sign and return to school to show your support. Thanking you in advance for your continued support of student learning at Lansdowne Public School.
